Dr Seuss Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?

Today we read "Mr. Brown Can Moo!  Can You?"  and then we did a few activities to go with this story.
You can find these fun activities here.

This fun game you can find at 2 Teaching Mommies.

We only have one story left that we will be covering during our Dr. Seuss celebration.

Dr Seuss: Hop on Pop

Today my son read "Hop on Pop" to me.  He only needed help a couple of times.  He did great.
He practiced writing a few words from the story that was in a Seussical Pack found at Living Intentionally.
Then we did several fun activities that you can find at www.seussville.com or here.
Then he drew a picture of his Dad.  He gave him glasses and everything.
I had him draw that picture so that he could "hop on pop".  He had a lot of fun doing that.

Dr Seuss: The Lorax

Today we read "The Lorax".  Afterwards we talked a little bit about what we can do to take care of the Earth.
2 Teaching Mommies has a really great free pack to go with this book.  Here are a few of the activities we did.
Then we made our own Truffula Trees.  My son glued pom-poms onto a piece of paper and then used a brown crayon to draw the tree trunks.

Dr. Seuss: Horton Hears a Who

Today was another low-key day with preschool.  We will be doing more activities on Dr. Seuss books next week as well.  Today we read "Horton Hears a Who".
This activity talks about small, smaller, smallest, and big, bigger, biggest.  You can find it here.
We also made a little clover with a pom-pom and pipe cleaner.
I was also going to have my son draw a picture of what he thought Whoville looked liked, but he had no interest in doing that so that was that.

You can also watch "Horton Hears a Who".

Dr Seuss: Horton Hatches the Egg

Today was a low-key preschool day.  We read "Horton Hatches the Egg" and talked about what it means to be faithful and how Horton was faithful throughout the book.

Then we made a paper plate elephant.  You can find a template at Seussville.
This little activity came from a pack I found on What a Teacher Wants.  He decided if he could mix two animals together he would have a monkey and an elephant.
My little one wanted a turn showing off the book we read today too.

Dr Seuss: The Cat in The Hat

Today we read and talked about "The Cat in The Hat".  My son helped me by reading the first seven pages.  I think he could have read more, but he was getting tired.  I enjoy being able to read books together.

Living Life Intentionally has some great printables for Dr. Seuss books and we used several today.
With this activity he colored the c's red, t's black and left the a's white to make a hat.
With this activity he traced the different shapes.
For this activity my son cut out the hats and then glued them where it said to (on, under...)
This activity I found on Homeschool Share.  You matched pictures of things that rhymed or didn't rhyme with hat.
This activity came from a pack I found at 2 Teaching Mommies.  My son colored the pictures and we made a book to go with at words.
My son painted this hat read and white.  Then we cut it out and I made a headband so that he could wear it like a hat.
Another fun thing we've done this week has been visiting Seussville for fun games and activities.

You can also check out PBS Kids for Cat in the Hat games that correlate to the show.

Oopsey Daisy has a fun Dr. Seuss packet that is worth checking out.

Stuff by Ash has a real cute Cat in the Hat craft using a toilet paper roll.  Maybe we'll do that next year.

I can Teach My Child also has a cute Hat to go with this book.

Dr Seuss: One Fish Two Fish...

Homeschool Share has some really great activities that go along with this book. The activity below had you throw coins onto the sheet and you got to eat the number of fish that the coin landed on.

Then we sorted our colored goldfish and tallied and counted how many we had of each color.
This is a fun addition activity that I found at Obseussed.  Her blog has tons of great Dr. Seuss related things.
This is a pattern activity with fish.  I found in a pack from What A Teacher Wants.
This is a fish activity I made ages ago.  Each fish has a number on it and you need to feed it the number of worms written on it.
Then we had some Pink Ink which was actually Yoplait Smoothies that everyone in my family loves.

Dr. Seuss: The Foot Book

Dr. Seuss has a birthday coming up (March 2nd).  I always like to celebrate with my kids by doing activities that correspond with some of his books.  That is the plan for the next couple of weeks.
Today we read and talked about "The Foot Book"
Living Life Intentionally has a monster of a pack full of different activities.  We found this fun one to go with The Foot Book.  We counted with my son's feet how long different things were and colored in the correct amount of feet on the paper.  He loved it and wanted to measure more things with his feet.
We did this fun foot print with finger paint.  He loved it and we did it again with a red foot print.
We also measured his foot and my foot.  This book is full of opposites so we went through and talked about all the opposites that we found in the book.  After we had done all of the activities my son and I sat down and he read the book pretty much by himself.  Yay!

Check out this blog for more ideas for this book.

Since it was our first Dr. Seuss day we also did a really fun "All About Me" Dr. Seuss packet.  It is awesome.  Check it out.  On this page my son wrote his name, age, weight, height, and drew a picture of himself.
It was a really fun day and I am looking forward to more Dr. Seuss books activities in the next couple of weeks.  He has so many great ones it has been hard to narrow down what we are focusing on.
